Song of the Day: Coldplay - Viva La Vida

I've been a fan of Coldplay since their first album.  Despite having my manhood questioned by popular media and movies because of my love of their music, I have continued to be a staunch supporter.  I am living proof that you can have natural affections toward the opposite sex and still enjoy a good Coldplay tune now and again.  And no, I don't shave my chest.  And no, I haven't seen Mama Mia!... yet.

As most of you already know, here is one of the best songs from their latest album.  If you have not heard it yet, you are probably living in a cave.  Oh, and if any of my readers want to give me a free ticket to the November concert in thanks for my providing this blog, I will be happy to oblige.  What a better way to celebrate a huge Utah win over those self righteous, overconfident cougars?

If it's good enough for Gweneth, it's good enough for me.

Maybe an entire post for another day, but a huge pet peeve of mine is people who only like indie rock bands that no one has heard of. Good music is good music. And if everyone and their dog likes it, it's still okay to like it too.

What's even worse is when someone likes a band before they were popular, then the band gets popular, and people say they don't like the band anymore (see Modest Mouse, DMB, Death Cab, etc.) I pride myself in not being one of these persons.

Coldplay was huge in Portugal when I was on my mission. When I got home no one knew who they were until about 6 months later when "Yellow" came out. By then I had listened to Parachutes at least 100 times. Long live Coldplay. Time should show them to be as big as the Rolling Stones.

Gweneth - hehe! She was a great fat girl in Shallow Hal.

I am really starting to discover some great new indi music, but I will not abandon great music that comes out in the mainstream. The problem with mainstream though is that there seems to be less and less Weezers and Coldplays and more and more Jonus Brothers. But I totally agree with you Ike.
