Here I am, hopping out of the mini van, about to embark on my journey.
My sign says, "I HAVE A GOD-GIVEN BLOGGING VOICE. PLEASE HELP!"
You can not tell from the video, but the sign garnered a lot of laughs from drivers and even more very confused people. Many people shrugged as if to say, "I don't know what that means."
The best part of this video is my 9-year-old son's commentary. It is hilarious. Of course, no video would be complete without one of my sons screaming and whining, so I included that in there too, for your benefit. So, without further ado, here I am, blog-begging. At the end, I finally score a dollar.
Finally, my new challenge for 700 followers is up! At 700 followers, I will vlog myself entering a Subway restaurant and I will then start improv break dancing on their floor. Should be fun!

That is just damn awesome.
Congrats on the followers and congrats to you for following through with your promise.
I wish my gimmicks for every 50 followers was this creative.
"My dad has 600 people following his blog. I bet most of these people are driving by."
Priceless. You're my blogging hero. I'd give you a buck for sure.
The things you make your wife do.... Thanks for the laughs.
I just want to know where you were standing. I would have totally come by and given you a dollar.
I can't believe that guy gave you a dollar! HILARIOUS! And your kids? EVEN MORE SO!!! I can hardly wait to see you break-dancing at Subway!!!!
Now that is worth so much more than a buck! You are one crazy dude!
That's great! Worth more than a dollar any day to get a laugh from your blog. Don't forget to record that new income because with the teaching salary added to it you're probably in a new tax bracket!
Nice job. When you do the Subway dance, let's see if we can't put out the word for a Cheeseboy Flash Mob.
You have officially outdone yourself, all while reaching a new low.
Love it! The commentary from the family is classic
Your kids are so awesome. The commentary is priceless.
Oh this was amazing! LOL. Your kids were hilarious. I can't wait for the next video. Congratulations on your 600+ followers :0)
Cool! Your son's right -everyone knows it's you. Your Subway gig needs to be out of town. Preferably a big town. And in the wrong section, just to make it interesting.
You only got a buck?! What has happened to society!?!
Once again, I bow down to your greatness...well, if I could actually bend...and if I got on the ground, I wouldn't be able to get up...
wish i would have been on that road that day. boo :(
One thing I can definitely say about you... well two things. One is you are funny!!! And the other is you really do keep your word!! You said you were gonna do this and you did it! I love it! I can't wait to see you break dancing in subway's!
I'm glad some people laughed because that is funny! I even took a break during my vacation to check it out!
Your son will be another Harry Cary!
I'm sure the Shrute farms t-shirt and the clean shaven look didn't help. If you really wanted to earn some money, you will have to let yourself go a couple months to get the authentic pan handler look.
I thought you would get waaaay more than a $1. I don't think you dressed Hobo-y enough.
Great job. You sure have a pair.
I have to tell you.. I was having a crappy day.. you just made me laugh sooo freaking hard. Seriously... when you become famous - remember the little people. PS - You know I DO WORK IN Public Relations.. hahahhaa..
Excellent as always.
You truly have no shame. It's one of my favorite things about you!
You know, we're doing a YouTube video contest for my work (non-profit) and the winner gets $2,500. You ought to enter then you can maybe win and upgrade your sign!
when you get to subway, can i put in a request for the worm? one of my favorite break-dancing moves because it's just so wrong, it's right!
What I love most about this, besides that fact that all of it makes me laugh, is that you are creating the funniest memories for your boys that will be with them forever. You will be the funny dad that they love all that much more becuase you teach them to not take them so serious, but to laugh and have fun.
Well done cheeseboy, but I REALLY want to be there at Subway!
You are a nut. I like that about you. You have ginormous b-a-l-l-s. (I spelled it to keep it PG13. Does that count?
I have a question. (imagine that) I want to know if you lovely wife reads your blog? That poor lady. I bet she is super sweet to put up with you!
I KID. I KID.
I can't wait to see the subway clip! I'll send some more peeps your way.
ok i came over because IA linked this on Facebook and i have a "must click" issue. glad i did.
i will admit i am slow to follow new blogs...but i WILL add you to my reader and we will see where it goes.
it's not you, it's me.
i have commitment issues.
i also over share my issues with total strangers.
see 3 issues...overshared.
Is there no appreciation for blogging, sheez! People should have been throwing money at you don't they know who you are?
That was great and the kids made is even better!!
And what do you plan on spending that hard earned dollar on?
Awesome. I love LOVE the commentary by your son. and the whining. makes it all the more real.
I'm sorry. Once I caught sight of a blue roof in the backround, all I could do was wonder if it was a Goodwill Store.
You just had me laughing to the point of tearing up. You are so awesome, Abe. Only you could get away with something like that without getting arrested but, in fact, making money - more money than any of the rest of us. I loved that your boy said "nobody's giving him money because they know he's my dad." Classic!
xoRobyn
Fucking Priceless. But you didn't look very enthusiastic!!! Put yer back into it, Plonker!
I'd have given you a dollar, Abe...sorry that I drove by and honked...I thought you were somebody else at first.
That is fantastic!! I love that your son thinks all your 600 followers are driving around Salt Lake!! lol
You are pretty fearless... I am impressed!
I LOVE it!!! I can't wait for the Subway vid, though. I wish I could, like, follow you using 100 different aliases. :)
Man. You need a cool contest here. Like a FACE OFF.
Find a blogger and compete. Whoever gets the followers first gets to decide the other's task...
Brilliant! You inspire us all.
Have I told you yet that yours is my very FAVORITE blog?!?
I think the guy who gave you the dollar just had his spot secured in heaven.
Nice.
My one year old was mesmerized by this video. I can't wait to see you break dance.
I'm sure you got a lot of confused looks and many who tries to not notice you at all.
Do I hear a Cheeseboy Flash Mob about to attack? Sounds awesome.
You're such a "man"! I think you would have gotten a few more bucks if you had a 5 o'clock shadow! ;)
oh, to have been driving by that day... although I usually only have the small change that has been dropped between the seats... I totally would have given it to you - even the pennies that have been cemented together with sprite for the past few years.
Your sons were killing me! Hilarious!! Hahahahaha Good job on the hobo stuff, it honestly would take some guts to get out there! haha I'm still laughing!
You are a brave man :) I don't think I could ever pull this off. Too funny to hear your kids commentary.
You're wife has the patience of a saint, I hope you gave her the dollar!
We can all learn from you, Cheese. WHAT, exactly, is determined on an individual basis.
:-)
You rock!
Pearl
You are so hilarious & brave! You even got a dollar. Were you nervous while standing there or it just got easier the longer you begged? Also? I LOVED hearing your son whine. Sounds just like mine!
Your son was right. We were all driving by, because that's what followers do, they follow you. Duh.
I wish I had been driving by. I would have raked together all the smashed up goldfish in my car, lumped them together and given you a goldfish cake w/ a few dog hairs and car dirt thrown in for free.
Your other boy sounds just like Randy from A Christmas Story when his mom is putting the snow suit on him.
So is that the only dollar you got? Or is that a decent way to make money, cuz maybe I'll have to give it a try.
I can see it now- You will replace Glenn Beck!!! (I wish I had an ounce of your confidence and bravery!)
You are completely awesome!!!!
This is hilarious!!!!
You deserve to be famous someday. I can only imagine what type of shenanigans you'd get up to on SNL or Letterman.
I like the Cheeseboy flash-mob idea:) Good job on pan handling! All in a days work for bloggers everywhere.
Your wife is so gracious to you.
Okay, first, did your son say "be-tend" instead of pretend? If so, my son says that all the time and I absolutely love it.
Second, I am so giggling at the fact that your family was going to drive by and give you a dollar. That's awesome.
I am going to follow just to see the break dancing.
You are my hero.
Hahahaha! My favorite part was your wife! I know that tone of voice. The "I wish he would hurry up & finish so I can get a whiskey cuz this @#$%&! whiney kid is making me lose my temper."
I hope you put that hard earned dollar to good use, and not waste it on booze..
LOL..
I can't believe that guy gave you a dollar! Did you promise to wash his truck later? ;-)
SO funny. Thanks for the laugh!
BTW, it's so weird seeing all of those BIG vehicles after being over here for so long.
Up here in Canada, we call the dollar a "loonie". I'd have given you three! - G
"I wonder what the U-haul people think?"
I assume thats where you were standing not the people standing by to cart you off if things got out of control........
Hilarious, once again! I can't believe you got money so quickly...it gives me an idea!
There has got to be better ways to make money from blogging.
too funny. I hope your wife is putting all this in a book.
I don't think there are enought panhandlers in utah. You are supposed to wander amoung the stopped cars, knocking on windows. That way you MAKE them ignore you....of course then you might have gotten arrested.
The commentary made the video. Glad your efforts paid off!
cheeseboy I would love to count things into the hundreds. Hey I have a short video clip that you could help reach 100 views.
http://youtu.be/CAZ_bNH0aJI
Where was your bushel basket of beets, boy?
It's time to tell you I love your wife's secret blog ... wait til you find out what she's planning when she hits 1000 followers. You'd better be ready for ANYthing she asks of you.
And what DID the u-haul people think?
I hate to tell you this but you were TOTALLY upstaged by your kids in this video. The patient tone your wife used cracked me up too and I'm sure I heard her gritting her teeth when your son started seriously fussing. Classic!
LOL! That was hysterical.
More so to me because your commentator son sounds EXACTLY like our oldest son sounded at that age - - - the son that sold limestone gravel out of the driveway for 5 cents a rock and already had like 15 cents in his grubby little 4 year old paw when I caught and stopped him - - - same son that went door to door while I was at the funeral home telling the neighbors, "our grandma died and we don't have any food in the house" and the same son who still to this day, he's 30 now BTW, removes the labels from my canned goods on the pantry shelf if I don't catch and stop him in time.
You may have these things to look forward to in your future - - -
I love that you finally got your dollar! Your kids cracked me up.
I love that someone gave you a dollar!hahahaha.
breakdancing in a restaurant? Come on, Cheese, you can come up with something better (I mean with something more embarrasing) :))) We wanna see you breakdancing in a restaurant wearing a pink leotard or something :))
I love the slice of family life. Makes me realize how much I don't miss it! Ha ha!
Judging by how well you were dressed, I'd have asked you for a dollar!
You are AWESOME!!!
Congrats on the 600...
Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be? I could fly higher than an eagle...
Well, you know the rest.
Once-again you've not failed to deliver, Cheeseboy.
Haha! My favorite part of it was when your kids asked when are we going to go and your wife says "In a few minutes." Because I can totally see myself answering in that same tone of voice.
Did you only make the one dollar?? I totally would have given you some money. You know .50 or so.
