Things we lerned from the awesomely bad music in the 80's.

Steps to Building a City

1. First of all, you're going to need a man named Maconi.  He must play the mamba.  This is an absolute must have.

2. Listen to the radio.

3. Remember. ('member) ('member)

4. Build it on Rock and Roll.

What Friends are for.

1. To keep smiling.

2. To keep shining.

3. Knowing you can all ways count on me.  For sure.

4. In good times and bad times, friends will be on your side forever more.

Love is...
1.  I want to know what love is! (I want you to show me.)

2. A battlefield.

3.  Endless.

4. Something I would do anything for.  (Except that.)

***Dearest readers: Cheeseboy is saddened to announce that he will be on hiatus for the next week and the Blog O' Cheese will be in reruns.  Enjoy the best of Cheeseboy.  Unfortunately, I will be unable to visit your delightful blogs or reply to comments.  Please, I beg of you, do not drop me as a follower.  That McDonald's playland is calling.

Hey ya young cheesy whippersnapper ... I don' r'member any of these song references in 1888? Yes' giv'n me a Sousa march like good old 'Semper Fidelis' any day of the week. That was the REAL music of the '80s! W.C.C. the elder

80's music was the BOMB (not cool to say that anymore, huh? LOL). Too funny that you have a pic of one of my FAVORITE 80's icon...Meatloaf. :)

We'll miss ya, Cheese! Hurry back!!

Ack! '80s music?! Gag me with a spoon, why doncha? The Husband thought your post was awesome though. He L.O.V.E.S. that music. He's been singing it for the past hour now. I'm going to have to smother him in his sleep, I think.

I like some of it but not most of it. You can have it all! You're welcome!

Hey, I just need to thank you for the awesome comments you leave me on my GEM blog. I'm sorry I'm not around to read your posts often but your comments always make my day.

THANK YOU!!

Oh I'm going to bed now with all these tunes in my head. You're lucky you're going to be away for a week! By the time you get back, I won't be ticked anymore. ;) KIDDING!! LOVE 80's music!

80's OMG I had to live through it for real, don't want that to be recycled, rehashed or otherwise resurrected.

MACONI plays the mamba??? FINALLY...I know the words!!! Seriously...I have the entire song memorized except that line.

Bless you Cheeseboy...bless you.

And have a good time...wherever you're going.

It reminds me of how Joann @ Laundry Hurts my feelings asked us to wait for her.

Dang Joann caused me to sing a song from Saturday's Warrior in my head for a week:

"Will I wait for you? Will I wait for you?"...if you've seen the movie chances are you know the rest of the song.

I wasn't a fan of 80's music - I was more of a 70's girl. Since I'm new to your blog, I'll enjoy the reruns! Have a nice hiatus and catch ya on the flip side.

I hope where ever you go you have fun and come back to blog land when you can.

I'll still be here. Playing in the balls at the Mcdonald's playland place.

The music of the 00's can't even tell us exactly who it was that let the dogs out.

80s music was so much smarter.

Enjoy the first week of your summer break! You deserve it!
And like the others, I know every son you have listed.

Awwwwww, guy, thanks for putting those songs in my head. But at least they pushed out the Wiggles songs.

Every time I listen to one of those songs from 80's, I plan on living the rest of my life with Tarzan at a Jungle. My Dad plays them on happy silent evenings and everything goes wrong next.

Toodles!:)

My husband borrowed my iPod for a trip, and called me about 2 hrs into it to make fun of me for having Ice Ice Baby on my playlist. Gotta love 80s and early 90s music!

You're off my list right now! Just kidding.

We also learned that every rose has its thorn.

Happy vacation!

This is the best and worst post I have ever read. The best on account of the musical stuff. The worst on account of the vacation stuff.

Come back soon!

Also in regards to love, and more specifically its power, it don't take money, fame, or a credit card to right that train.

I'm pretty sure I could riff on this all day. But instead here's what I learned from '80s music videos, Part 1 & Part 2 from my blog.

lindsey v said...

I think you meant to say "awesomely GOOD music of the 80's"!

Hutch said...

The withdrawals will be unbearable but the reruns will probably be new to me so I'm sure I'll manage. Enjoy your vacay!

Tammy said...

You know I am a totally awesome 80's fan :) And I loved (and still do) every song mentioned in your post!

I'm a little surprised you left out "it's a cruel, cruel summer, leaving me here on my own it's a cruel, cruel summer, now you're gone!" (because that's exactly what you just did to us).

You mean I've got a week to look for a man named Maconi? Well, alright.
Have a great vacation, and I'll miss you.

I just keep thinking of that song I changed the words to..."Every time you go away..You take a piece of MEat with yooooou".

Have so much fun!! And I know this is pretty lame, I have had a bad morning,,,,sigh

The music was awesomely bad then. Weren't you a bit young to be appreciating it when it happened though? You must be re-living it now. Good for you!

Teachinfourth said...

What does one say when one recognizes every reference in your post?

You're the best…around.

I know, Crazy. However, listening to 80s music makes you feel Forever Young, doesn't it?

Oh well, And So it Goes...

I will try to remain faithful to you in your absence.

And, yes, in the infamous words of one of the best 80's rockers...Love IS a battlefield. And so is the McDonald's playland.

Those songs helped raise me, you know.

And when me and my husband are playing "name that tune" on the radio, I kick his heiny every time.

Hope you have a good break!

I just wanted to say I recently discovered your blog and I love your writing! Keep making us laugh!

lisleman said...

a very good playing and combining of the lyrics. I try some similar stuff and if you have time when you get back which I know you won't you might browse over to A Few Clowns Short and click on the "music" tag.
Oh paradise by the dashboard light - it was great.

Enjoy the vacation. I was watching some VH1 music show the other night with my teen son and we were laughing our tushes off when some guy said "It was God's gift to marching bands everywhere." Now, what song would that be? The Final Countdown.

So maybe it's not as funny today, too many nachos, popcorn, bad 80's music, and little sleep make one delirious.

We'll enjoy the reruns, but hurry back, school is almost out and I need to look forward to some good laughs after I've picked splinters out of dirty toes, mopped the floors forty times, and pulled toys out of places they should never have gone.

Krista said...

The bad thing is - how they take a perfectly good 80's song and try to put freakin' rap. That Forever Young Remix is the worst song I have ever heard! WTHeck? Wasn't Meatloaf a little before the 80's?

SurferWife said...

Oh just great. I get my ass over here and you bail.

I'm outta here. Goners.

Alright. I'm not. But only because I like 80's music will I stay.

I have to add

"Love is real, real is love,

Love is feeling, feeling love,

Love is wanting to be loved."

Of course, this is from the wrong decade. But the guy was a Beatle and the Beatles are timeless so there ya go :)

Sorry but the "Love is a battlefield" one made me laugh out loud.
It just did.
I have no other explanation.
