4 cliche blog things on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I've learned that every so often bloggers have to take care of business items.  Such is the case today as things seem to keep piling up.

1. I was thrilled to have dinner with four fellow bloggers the other night and their spouses.  It was very strange to see the faces behind the blogs - that they were actually human, with real working brains.  I was especially nervous that they wouldn't find me in human form as funny as me in real life form.

I think I came off okay.  They didn't seem totally disgusted with me, but that is probably because I brought my lovely wife. My thanks to them all, especially Tiburon, the gracious host.  Here is a photo:

From left to right: M-Cat from "That's What She Said", Jason from "Adventures & Misadventures of Everyday Living", Tiburon from "Shark Bait" and me.  (I'm Abe, AKA Cheeseboy and my blog is this very one you are on.)

2. Awards.  I've received two lately.  My thanks to Claire at "Are Muffins Ugly Cupcakes" for the awesomely titled, "You Make Me Smile Blogger Award" and Holly at "Diamond Potential" for her terrifi-a-cool award, "A Daily Scoop of Chaos".

3. A meme.  My friend, Mami, over at "Unknown Mami" has been trying to get me to participate in her "Sundays in my City" meme for a while.  I have finally relented.  She informed me that the venture into your city didn't actually have to take place on a Sunday, which is great because mine is from Wednesday.

Another friend, Jesse,  invited me to an event he puts together called, "Ignite Salt Lake".  About 10 people sign up to give a five minute powerpoint presentation on ANYTHING they want.  Most of them are quite entertaining and/or funny and the best part is that the presenter never knows when the slide is going to change.
Waiting in line.  I learned that this is a very nerd infested event.  I fit right in.

My ultra-hot wife in line, happy to be on a date with me, but wondering about the nerds surrounding us.  Also, she is grossed out by the prospect of the next picture...
The inside stall door at the five star resort that we stopped at just to use their bathrooms.  Nice, eh?
4. Giveaway!! Giveaway!!! Giveaway!!!

I tried to give this crap away once before, but for some odd reason, no one wanted it.  So, GIVEAWAY... AGAIN!  We have here a 12 pack, er 9 pack of pure nastiness.
Here is all you have to do to win!

Follow me on Facebook.
Follow me in real life.
Make a poster of my blog and hang it in your bedroom.
Blow up a picture of me and hang it in your cubicle at work.
Name your first born "Cheeseboy" (Or "Cheesegirl")
Promise to mention my blog in your wedding vows.
Follow me on Twitter.

That's it!  That's all!  Good luck to all the contestants!

How fun to meet your fellow blogging friends! I recognize Jason since I also read his blog, but don't know the other two gals. I'll be sure to check their blogs out now too.

You have been busy! What if I promise to tattoo a picture of you on my left buttock?

Real life bloggers! Wonderful.

I think next year you should sign up to give a power point presentation.

Do not sign me up for the giveaway! If I were to win, I would have to un-follow.

Definitely fun to meet other blog friends!

I've done three of the requirements, can you guess which three?

Allison said...

Can I get points up front since my first born is ALREADY named "Cheeseboy"?

And bonus points, since she's a girl?

CB said...

I follow all of their blogs - Glad you got to meet some blog friends -it is just so fun!!! It seems like half the blogs I visit the writers are from Utah! I meet M-Cat in 6 weeks :)

Don't want the cans of nastiness - ha ha - but I'll keep on following :)

I'm jealous you got to meet up with Teachin4th! Poo you!

...slinks off to work on her poster...

It is always fun to meet up with fellow bloggers, especially when you meet ones that live close by.

I guess you are gearing up for school to start? How do you do it all Cheeseboy!?

Your giveaway is so lavish! I don't know why anyone would not want to win it!

I just finished a road trip a couple months ago, but now I have to start another one to follow you in real life? I wonder how my boss is gonna feel about this... I think she was kinda counting on me to start teaching kids on Tuesday...

Vanessa said...

Still so mad I missed it. Kids get in the way of everything.

Anonymous said...

Well hell Ive done all of that PLUS had your name and banner boy tattooed on my hiney .... so tell me..... when can I expect my winnings to arrive??

mintifresh said...

I really hope I don't win the Mountain Dew but congrats on the awards and I already have a poster of "Cheeseboy" hanging in my front room. Right next to my custom framed Proclamation on the Family.

Copyboy said...

I want the 12 pack, but those seem like daunting tasks. Jason and The Golden Fleece worthy.

Pedaling said...

I know the 2 gals.
That's a very nice picture!

Miley said...

Oh very neat! A bloggy meet-up!
I'm pleased and upset with you for sharing their links... Now, pleasantly, I have a few more fab people to following. Upsettingly, I don't have the time!
Also, those 5 star hotels really know how to charge you for their "real wood" doors, don't they?

Side note - Holly should share pictures of her cheeseboy tattoo. Since she seems to be in a state of undress in public, this shouldn't be a big deal, ya know?

Connie said...

It is fun to meet the face behind the blog! I guess it's a good thing your lovely wife was there.

Congrats on the awards.
Keep your giveaway! :-)

Wish I could meet some real live bloggers! Unfortunately, I live in Iowa, where like ... no one blogs.

Bummer.

Awesome giveaway, BTW. Although I don't even like regular Mtn Dew, soooo ...

Unknown said...

So, um, just stopping by from the Unknown Mami's "Sundays in my City."
No, I don't want any Mountain Dew, even if it is the extra special limited kind, besides I can see that it's been taken out of the box & everyone know that destroys the value...It sounds like you had a great day even with the whole Powerpoint thing?

wendy said...

I love M-Cat...even though she is a cheese hater...HEY, how come she'd hang with YOU, being the blog O'Cheese and all.

My one son loves mt. dew. He calls it the nectar of the Gods.

Tammy said...

That is a great picture of you with your fellow bloggers! And a great picture of your wife!

Saimi said...

You bloggers in Utah have all the fun!

Teachinfourth said...

Who the heck are those exceptionally good-looking bloggers? Holy Hannah, Abe, you have some of the most attractive friends!

I'm making the poster right now, by the way...

W.C.Camp said...

Sorry cheeseboy, all of my wall space is already occupied with other posters of cheese. I like the swiss the best but the moths must have gotten to it because it is holey. If I have another kid though I do fully intend to name it 'Cheese IT' (since I don't know if it is a boy or a girl). W.C.C.

C'est La Vie said...

done and DONE! hahaha oh my, i will SO win this giveaway

i'm planning on meeting up with some fellow bloggers before i leave next week, it would be so much fun

The Invisible Seductress said...

I have already done all those things!! I really think your other followers aren't as loyal as me..sheesh..

Tom said...

It is always fun when you can meet fellow bloggers in person. I'm glad it worked out well for you. When I tried it, I woke up in a bathtub of ice and was missing a kidney.

mCat said...

I've already done all those things, but in all fairness to others, I'll pass on the liquid nastiness if I happen to win. Which I won't. Because I never win anything.

And I am lying awake freaking out, because I think when I met your wife, I said she married up, when in reality, I MEANT TO SAY - that YOU really married up. Because you totally did. : )

Remember, you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but never the trailer park out of the girl and this tp girl gets her words all mixed up when she is nervous meeting other bloggers in real life. And their lovely wives and kids.

It was a great night, and even those you are cheese, I would gladly do it again!

Powdered Toast Man said...

I want that Mountain Dew. I already have 2 cats named cheeseboy and cheesegal. I plan on mentioning you in my vows and I'm surprised you haven't noticed me following you in real life.

MamaOnDaGo said...

Visiting from Kludgy Mom. Saw your comment and couldn't resist your avatar name.

Queenie Jeannie said...

I love meeting bloggy friends!! Usually they are even more fun in "real life"!!

You can keep the creepy version of Mountain Dew - thanks.

MommyLisa said...

Okay that was random! Love it.

ScoMan said...

I've been following you in real life for years.

And I can't put up a poster of you in my bedroom, because to do that I would have to take down the posters of me.

baygirl32 said...

you've been a very busy cheeseboy indeed

mamahasspoken said...

I wish some of the bloggers I know lived closed by, but they don't. Needless to say, I am very envious of you!
As for the Mt. Dew the sons love that flavor of it but to enter your drawing is just a touch too much for even me to do.

the teacher's pets said...

I would love to meet all of my blogger friends in real life too! It is amazing how many friends we have out there in the blogger world. So great that you met 3 bloggers....thanks for sharing their blogs and their pictures! I'm going to visit them soon!

I love meeting blogging friends...well, when they turn out to be cool, anyway. LOL

Oh man! I'm am SOOOO jealous you got to meet those other bloggers!

And I am crushed, devastated... where is some chocolate!, that I wasn't invited.

Oh wait, I don't live in Utah anymore.

Fine, I forgive you, just this once. Guess I can wait till after breakfast to dive into the sweets.

And I do not want that liquid nastiness. Geh!

Congrats on the awards!

Claire said...

Real life bloggers?? Insane.
Looks like fun, the power point sounds fun, or funny, at least!

Congrats on the awesome awards from awesome people & seriously? The Mt. dew? Is it blue???????
I hate when things look awesome but sucks.

I think it needs to be "business time" here more often. Um, er, I mean "taking care of business time". I mean "do your business" here more often..er.. um Ok, this isn't working...so I'll just say great post. Nice meeting your blog friends. - G
PS. But then again, maybe that photo of the bathroom stall does qualify as you doing your business, or maybe even business time. I dunno. I'll stop now.

Baby Sister said...

Looks like fun...it's always weird to meet the faces behind the stories...at least for me anyway.

I was going to enter...but the whole twitter thing...I couldn't do it. Maybe next time.

Stephen C said...

I don't even know what that crap you're giving away is, but I'll take it - love free stuff.

tiburon said...

I have waited my whole life to get a shout out on your blog. I can die happy now.

It was the mostest fun ever. I am so glad we did it. I think it should be a weekly occurrence - just like my shower.

That bathroom call was a much better choice than any 7-11.

That is so cool meeting the faces behind the blogs.

I read Jason's blog, but I need to go check out the two lovely ladies in question.

Melinda said...

You're too cool. All these awards and fancy bathrooms, I just don't know where I fit into this anymore...

tammy said...

Did you kind of feel like you were meeting celebrities? That's how I always feel when I meet blog friends. I was totally nervouse meeting M-Cat and The Shark for the first time but now they're two of my fave people ever. And I'm laughing that Melissa may have told your wife she married up.

SparkleFarkel said...

CONGRATULATIONS on having your halls decked by fellow-bloggers! (Well deserved awards, to be sure!)

DEZMOND said...

congrats on the lovely meeting with bloggers and on the award and on your lovely wife .... ;)

Sam Liu said...

I've yet to meet any of my fellow blogger face to face, but I would really like to. The photograph of you all together is wonderful, Cheeseboy :)

Lisa said...

Hey Abe! Totally cool meeting blog friends - YAY! :)

Your wife is gorgeous, yes.

I hope you have an awesome week. Back to school yet?

Tracie said...

It's fun to meet bloggers IRL...as long as they don't end up being creepers.

Dolly said...

Awesome-I love Tiburon! Cool that you've met some cool bloggers:) I need to check out the others...

Joann Mannix said...

I'm so jealous. I don't have any bloggers near me to hang out with. You Utah folks sure know how to blog.

And what is up with all of this? Aren't you breaking all your blog rules? Next thing I know, you'll be reviewing anti-aging moisturizers and dust busters.

I don't want the Dew. I don't care too much for soft drinks. But I do like Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Got any of those laying around? If you do, I'll think about hanging up a poster.

Lourie said...

Some day I will meet my bloggy friends. For now I keep them safely tucked in my laptop.

Marnie said...

I think that it's great you got to meet up with your friends from Blogger! I'm sure a good time was had by all.

Interesting give-away you've got going on there ;0)

Mama-Face said...

ohhhhhhhhhhhh so jealous. As a fellow Utahn I feel sorta badly that I wasn't invited. I would've been way too scared to meet y'all, but you know, it's the thought that counts.

You have a FB page?? oh yeah. I will definitely like you.

(ps. I think you're beginning to follow some blogging rules........ :D)

Gerb said...

Jason tried convincing me to attend the bloggy get-together but my nerves got the best of me and I just couldn't do it. You all look fairly harmless, though. Maybe next time...
