Hey you just like Vampire Weekend because you and the lead singer were separated at birth.

I know none of the songs you have listed from 2010.

I gotta check all those out. I've only heard of one(Crossfire) but I'm so impressed with our eclectic list, I must check it out!

No Glee cover of the Beatles?

Um yeah....I'll be back for jolly fun and hilarity.

Man, I feel like a loser because I don't recognize hardly any of the songs, either...

This old lady is so out of it, I never even heard of any of your top choices. Pretty sad.

You sound just like Casey Kasum. (That's one name I'm familiar with) I like this song and liked watching the band members.

Baby Sister said...

I feel like I don't know anything now...because I only recognized 2 of those bands....

You are obviously a) from a much younger generation than me and b) not into country music AT ALL. :o)

I've heard of Brandon Flowers (my kid went to the same preschool he did) and Weezer. That's all. I feel so dated . . .

Scanned over the list twice and saw NO KATIE PERRY? What's up with that? BTW...made you blog of the day.

I feel so old.

I must be a total dork because I have never heard of any of those songs. Are you sure you just didn't make up some random titles trying to confuse the crazy girl?

I've heard of half of your faves of the year. That's better than last year at least. Phew!

And you really did sound just like Casey Kasum. You must be practicing.

I am so relieved to be the fourth or so, and not the first, person who does not know these songs. I did like the Vampire one. The singer look a little like a vampire too. xo

some intresting choices on there (I love lists that are non top 40)

This is quite a list! I'm a Billy Joel and Sinatra fan, myself. But neither of those guys came out with anything new this year, so I'll accept your choices!!

I love Vampire Weekend!

How about Tokyo Police Club and the Morning Benders? They released new albums this year, and their songs are great. Okay, I'll shut up; this is your list and not mine.

I'm so not "with it" anymore. I don't recognize any of those songs. But I will say this.. they have energy!!

What?! No TV on the Radio (personal favorite of mine!)

Love your picks.

I'm not seeing the Bee Gees on here. Oh wait! Gotta remember what decade this is....

I don't see any Glee songs in your top 20.

I admit, not familiar with any of these songs. I did take a listen to Vampire Weekend. It has a reggaeish flair to it, don't you think? Very upbeat. I hope that wasn't an insult.

Uh yeah, don't know any of those...I guess me and Neil don't get out much!

I think you just made the whole thing up to see if we would believe the Emperor was wearing a new Armani suit for Christmas. I say he's naked.

No Lady GaGa?!? How dare you?

mamahasspoken said...

thanks! I now feel even older than before because I know NONE of those songs. Guess it doesn't help that my car radio is set for the oldies either....

Okay you would LOVE our radio station and you can listen online.

Not my style of music, but I know many of those bands!

Okay...I love me some Weezer but I'm not an indie fan. I do love alternative though. I'll be back for the next post full of jolly fun and hilarity. That's more my style anyway although I can rock a good tune as well. Not really. But I try hard.

Holy cow - I'm with the first comment from Kate -- you and the lead singer are seriously twins! It's almost freaky! And that high voice he sings in - now I know where you got that from in your Christmas Shoes song. I seriously thought I listened to good stuff these days - but I haven't heard of most of the stuff on your list. Not going to say that means I'm old - cuz I think we're pretty close to the same age! You're just cooler than me I guess! :-)

sinika said...

What? No Jonsi? No Of Montreal???? Just kidding- your list is very cool. My faves from your list are Dr. Dog, Belle & Sebastian, Weezer (of course), New Pornographers (although I wish they'd change their stupid name) Broken Bells AND I love Tom Waits so I'll have to look up that cover. Not bad Cheeseboy. Not bad.

P.S. Broken Bells are on Conan tomorrow night- just FYI.

Yeah! Always a treat to get your list, man. Great stuff. I'll be checking a few of these out in iTunes - quite a few are new to me.

I'm also looking forward to the list of your best posts of 2010. You may also need to compile a list of your best 10 Facebook posts of 2010.

Sco said...

Should have mentioned - already have #'s 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Fun to listen to the rest!

I was thinking the same thing as Kate! Sure you're not related?

I am SO behind! I was thinking what a cool mom I am, listening to all the latest tunes and all, but wow- never heard of most of your list. I'm going to blame it on the fact that the UK is very in love with the 80s.

So I watched the video to see what you young sprats are all into these days, and I really liked it! It's pretty impressive that the band members can sing that "AA!" "AA!" "AA!" thing in tune. That's actually really hard. (Do you think those string players go everywhere with them, just to sit and tap their toes for 2:45 and then play for a whopping 12 measures? Hope they get paid a lot for their trouble!)

Yes. These are the things an old voice teacher-slash-orchestra conductor thinks about when she watches a music video. I should probably stick with 8-track.

I almost feel like a hipster since I know and love almost all of these. (There are 2 that I'll be searching for tonight though!) Great list!

Cheese, I seemed to have missed a lot of your posts while my company was in town. I can't believe I missed this one! Great, great list. And most of them are on my iPod. I saw Passion Pit this summer up in Chicago at the Food and Wine festival and I hate to say this, because I love that group, they weren't so good, live. Maybe it was an off day. Still love them, though.

Do you have satellite radio? Because you would love the three alternative stations they've got.

You have just confirmed my elderly status. I don't know a SINGLE song your list.

I need to get a life

Lisa Loo said...

I think you googled the top most never heard of songs just so you would seem cool and hip--mmm---hmmm....you are so transparent...

Kidding--I just have no idea who, what or if these people actually exists....

You're right, we do like a lot of the same music. :) Great top list of 2010. I approve! (like you really needed my approval...) ;)

Happy Holidays and here's to another year of fantastic tunes!
