I'm back.

I doubt I've been missed much, but I needed a break from blogging.  It happens to me from to time, kinda like my reoccurring case of Swimmer's Itch.

So now I'm back, like the Terminator, but without the illegitimate children or the housekeeper/baby mama waiting in the wings.

During my blogcation, I did done some deep thinking.  I thought long and hard and then I thought short and soft about my blogs future.  I did a lot of thinking of varying firmnesses and lengths.

Alas, I decided to continue the blogging on the great Blog O' Cheese, but I determined that it was taking too much of my time, especially considering that I have a budding Twitter career just hitting the big time. (@Cheeseboy22)

It is because of my desire to free up more time and then to waste that time into nothingness that I have decided to place a few restrictions on my return.  They are thus:

1. I will only post once a week, likely on Tuesdays.  I will save my best ideas for this one post and by "best" I mean, "the crap you are used to".

2. My posts will be primarily humorous stories from my life.  I've found that these are generally the most well received and tend to be the funniest.  Occasionally I may write a nonsense post or a opinion piece, but there are only so many crappy products to make fun of.

3. I will continue to attempt to comment on my close blog friend's blogs at least once per week.

4. If you post a comment on my blog, I will do everything in my power to return the favor on your blog. That is, if you leave a trail for me to follow.  If you are not linked back to your blog on your profile, I have no way of finding you and heaven knows, everyone loves to be found on the internets.

So there you have it.  I'm back, but with some caveats, which is perfect because I love fish eggs on my morning blog post bagels.  I appreciate all my beloved followers sticking with me and I promise to reward you with either some hilarious writing or 30% off coupons for everyone at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I hope you chose the writing.

Ah, Honest Abe...calling it like it is. Once-again fraught with hilarity and abstinence.

I'm proud of you...and it only took three of the steps to get you to this point.

Glad to have you back. I will look forward to your weekly post. I have also been thinking of running a promotion and offering Valpak coupons to followers.

Obviously deep thinking has taken a toll, leading you to unaccustomed logical conclusions. It is a sad, sad day.

Did you reach into my brain and pull out my blogging rules?

I don't have the Twitter though, so I'm able to focus on blogging a bit more.

Connie said...

Bed, Bath and Beyond is so overrated.

Looking forward to your weekly posts.

Pedaling said...

I'd take your writings over a 30% off coupon, any day!
ugghh, Twitter. Tried it twice.
Hated it twice.
Deleted it....twice.

Emmy said...

30% I have never seen one for that high!

Oh, I mean I am so glad you will not totally be leaving us- you are way better than 30% off coupons-- 50% and well that might be another story.

And yea, if it isn't fun for you anymore than it isn't worth it

I like it. Weekly is WAY better than my schedule...you know, not post and then post fifty in a row and then not post...and repeat...I know, I rule.

Glad to have you back. You were missed. Sorry about badgering you. I don't like badgers.

Welcome back! And yes, you were missed! I wondered what happened to you.

Ummmmm, could you maybe continue to blog AND give us the 30% coupons?!?! That'd be total awesomesauce!

Cynthia said...

YEah! I am glad you're back. I will keep reading and laughing but I fully understand your need to actually LIVE your life in between allowing us all the opportunity to mock it!

So... Do I count as a close blog friend? i'm unclear as to the closeness of our bloggy relationship. These things can be tricky... I sure hope so... :)

Looking forward to your weekly posts.

They had BETTER be GOOD! :)

Smart move my cheesy friend. Yeah it is hard producing posts at the pace you were going especially if you want to have a job, a family ... well you know the drill. See you next Tuesday! W.C.C.

Welcome back from your blogcation.

I am glad you are back and I totally respect your limitations. It takes a self disciplined blogger to know how to avoid jumping the shark. No pressure to comment back. I know you are busy!

Kate Geisen said...

I'm glad you're back. I, for one, will take the writing. The closest Bed, Bath, and Beyond is 30 min away. Granted, I drive past it every day on the way to work, but it really isn't worth getting off the interstate to visit. Especially not for 30%. I mean, that still leaves me paying over 2/3 of the regular price. Maybe if it was a 50% off coupon I'd give it more thought. Anyway, welcome back.

The blog looks great! Personally bloggers who only post once a week are my favorite...it means I might actually comment on every post. :)

Welcome back! I missed you.

There is more to life than blogging. If you spent all day in front of a computer there wouldn't be any stories to tell!

Glad you're back. You've been missed.
30%?! Better than the 20@ I get. Tempting to take the 30, but I'll take your weekly posts instead.

Cperz said...

Glad your back, Abe. Those rules make perfect sense and I look forward to your weekly post. Blogging is fun but a major time suck for sure. Good for you to take control.

Alison said...

Blogging should be fun and if weekly works for you, it works for me too! (less pressure on me to read the 100 blogs I've subscribed to, so yay!)

I set limits on myself once. I told myself "self, only write when something inspires you..."

I still wrote daily.

Do what feels natural, but don't hold yourself back. If the creative bug bites you between the toes on a Friday morning, by all means, scratch that itch.

ThreeOldKeys said...

I'd been looking for the cheese ... I thought we'd thrown it out.

Found it ... sniff sniff ... it still smells pretty good !

Tony Van Helsing said...

Sounds like my plan. Post no more than once a week, people have lives to lead after al and always stick to one subject per post.

Amy said...

My daughter has taken up crayon eating. I say that as if it matters, and as if it means anything, which it doesn't. It sure beats the toothpaste, though, which has been her staple since the Cheese went away. You think I am joking. I assure I am not. Hopefully we can wean her from the crayons back onto the Cheese now.

Favorite part of this post-HARRY!!!

Oh, I guess it's great that you're back too...who else is going to blog about awesome things like Wilford Brimley, and oatmeal?

Joann Mannix said...

Great, because I've been needing a new duvet for my bed. Looking forward to that coupon.

It gets to you, doesn't it, this consuming machine that blogging becomes?

I think you'll really enjoy blogging once a week. You'll remember that other life you had before blogging.

Even with blogging just once a week, I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. It's pretty tough, when you're trying to have a life, too.

And I am still completely thunderstruck by Ahnold's choice in a mistress. That is as big a mystery as Bigfoot. Actually, his mistress might just be Bigfoot.

When I first saw "caveats" I was thinking, "Wow, does Abe really know what that word means?!", I see I was right in my first response... :)

Silver Strands said...

Well, welcome back Abe! And good ... I was using far too much time reading your blog. Once a week will make my family happier for me.

Unknown said...

I find many of my twitter/blogging friends are feeling the same so you are not alone. I took time off a few weeks back and it felt good. I was stressed all summer because I wasn't "connected". That's not a feeling I should be having. So with my kids back in school I'm going to try to get on a social networking schedule so my time is better spent living my life with my family. Good luck! I'll be looking forward to your weekly posts.

1. DON'T TRY THAT LEAVING SHIZ EVER AGAIN.
2. I'm glad you're back.
3. I'm not a fan of you only posting once a week but I'll take it.
4. I only get 20% coupons to BB&B and may be interested in your 30% coupon since I need to make some purchases soon.

True Story: This morning at 3:30 when I was rocking my baby back to sleep I thought about you and your blog and wondered where the heck you were. Glad you're back.

Mindy said...

Sounds good! I totally understand about needing to change the time spent on blogging. I always love reading your posts. Unfortunately, you always visit back when I am doing a giveaway for a product you are in no way interested in. Not your fault. Totally mine. I think maybe once you hit on one of my regular, potentially deep (or occasionally humorous) posts. lol. Oh, well. I love visiting here and inevitably find myself linking up on fb to share the laughs. Welcome back.

Glad you're back, and focusing on quality over quantity.

In regard to quantity, too much cheese stops me up, anyway.

And, in terms of quality, I prefer quality cheese over CheezWhiz, any day of the week!

Glad you are back, dude! Once a week works. Give us the crap we like and we'll keep coming back.

Welcome back! You've been missed.

Um...I would like the coupons, ok?

I'm a close friend, right?

Saimi said...

Well Cheeseboy, I guess you've figured by now you've been MISSED!

I'll be looking forward to your weekly post, you see like Kristina I don't have Twitter either.

Living Life said...

Better to have you back once a week than not at all Abe! As always, I enjoy your posts and your humor and your cheesy(ooops, I mean charming) personality ~ lol!

Looking forward to your continued postings...

Lourie said...

Thank heavens you are back! The withdrawal has been horrible!

The coupon will be in the mail correct? ;)

mCat said...

Gosh Abe - reading through all the comments - you are so loved and were so missed! Does that buy me the "close friend" title?

Really though, blogging has to be fun. Commenting has to be meaningful or it all just turns into a blogligation. Hate that. Hate Cheese (but you knew that) - Love me some Abe being Abe which is damn funny!

I too have been thinking about cutting back, this blog gig really cuts into the free time!

Write when you feel like it, just keep writing! (Although, I would like to request some sort of antic when you reach 800 followers. Or maybe I'm going to have to break down and start tweeting.)

I totally understand where you are coming from! It's hard to keep up with the blog stuff all the time. I can't imagine how much more intense it is for you with how much success you've had over the last few years! I still am going to be looking very forward to your posts, whenever they show up.

Tell me a little more about Bed Bath and Beyond?

Welcome back, you have been missed.
I was forced to take a blogcation, only because my computer decided that it was working too much overtime and stopped allowing me to read or write blogs. I believe that it is fixed and should be up and running soon.

Bees With Honey said...

I so hear you Abe! I have to chill out on the blog too because I'm back to teaching part-time and the other half of the time I have 3 kids and a husband to make happy. I will continue to read you - whatever day you post because I need my dose of funny. I'll take coupons at Bed, Bath and Beyond though anytime :P

Welcome back!

Yay!!!!! There you are!!!! I love caveats, too, but with cream cheese and pineapple.

Welcome back. Back when I was doing the posting every day thing I felt like it wasn't my best stuff...that's one of the reasons I cut back. Plus it gives me time to do other stuff. Good choice. :)

Shockgrubz said...

Welcome back and once a week is a good move. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, eh?

Pat said...

You're back, and looks like hairier than ever. (BTW - I LOVE that movie!) I think you are making a wise choice - I am so consumed with my blog and/or blogging spending 6/8 hours a day on the computer. Luckily I don't have a job, but, geez, I DO have a life! Part of the problem is S-L-O-W internet (remember I'm the wandering gypsy so we use the wi-fi at campgrounds). I'm sure your wife and kids would like to see more of you ;), in MY case, my husband's time is consumed on the OTHER computer!

I choose Cheeseboy's posts! Bed, Bath and Beyond workers are really irritating. I can't test the samples without them pushing products at me.
Besides, I missed you. It's not the same without you. Thanks for dropping by and letting me know you're back.

Glad you are back.

Once a week fits into my reading schedule so much better, so thanks for making my life easier.

Unknown said...

Well, I'm glad you aren't going away for good!! I would definitely miss you then!

I think it's great that you are stepping away, I need to convince myself that it's ok to do the same thing. Blogging does take up a lot of time and once it starts to feel like work, I think it's time to step away for a while.

Looking forward to your posts, even if it's only once in a while!

Jason, as himself said...

Yep. I figured there had to be a point where you realized that you are after all, a real human being. Being as successful at blogging as you are is exhausting and more than time consuming! Although it certainly has its rewards.

You're way cooler than BB&B -- they only offer 20% off. I hear you on the getting burned out on stuff and all that. Gotta find a happy medium -- and not have your wife mad at you for spending all your time on the computer, right! LOL Glad your back. Things have been rather depressing in my world lately, so I knew I could come here for a good laugh. Thanks for not disappointing!

Not to correct you or anything but the BBB coupons are typically for 20% off or $5 off - if they are for more in your neck of the woods, I believe that to be unfair.

imbeingheldhostage said...

Once a week huh? I may have to just keep moving around to get me through your dry spells (the ONLY reason I haven't been severely stalking your blog is because I was moving!). AND
Twitter scares me. You have to learn a whole new language and I'm old-- please don't sacrifice your blog career for a Twitter one.

Anonymous said...

Good thing your blogcation coincided with my taking a break from reading your blog. Now I don't have to catch up on all the posts I missed. Especially since your definition of "weekly" actually means "whenever I feel like it".
