Cheeseboy Saturday Graph: Why American Idol Sucks This Year

Back by popular demand, it's the "Cheeseboy Saturday Graph".  It is a simple concept: I create a graph for the world to enjoy.  It's been a long time since I've done one, so I hope I am on my game.

***Also, I am guest posting today on The Chronicles of a Veteran Kindergarten Teacher, so feel free to check me out there too.

  1. I find it immensely pleasurable to make fun of Kara. :)

  2. Yes, yes, the blue portion is very distinctive. What happened to Ellen's personality? No, the purple portion doesn't need to be there. Sanjia made me puke. No more Sanjia, ever again. Please. BTW, who won? Lee? Or are the results yet to be announed?

  3. Boooo! LOL You're talking to the biggest Idol fan here. :) I loved Paula...and cannot STAND her "replacement"...I'm talking about the ever-annoying Kara!!

LOVE Ellen, and think she has been her usual hilarious self on the show. I do agree that there weren't as many "really" talented people this season, but I do love both Lee and Crystal and can't wait to see who wins. I'm going with Lee.

  4. Oh, I love the pie graph! I have watched Idol nearly every year since its inception, but gave it up this year. For all those reasons in your graph.. I've never been so happy to have no idea what's going on on American Idol.

  5. I don't watch American Idol but I think Ellen is funny on her talk show. Also as Dory in Finding Nemo. I love that movie.

  6. Great graph. I do think the final 2 are actually hugely talented...just not normal AI fare. The show is not the same without whackjob Paula.

  7. the graph is RIGHT ON!

    (but i watch anyway-
    Go, Lee, Go!!)

  9. I think they should have teen idol. They can get fresh talent, capture an fan base, sell posters and get a few years of hot selling items. The only bad thing about that is - how many teen boys would we have to put up with who sound like women when they sing? It's just weird to hear a love song for a girl that sounds like it's being sung by a girl. (No offense Ellen).

  10. It has been a pretty boring season but I hope Lee wins this week! And I do think Ellen is funny. I really liked Kara until this season when she's become Paula. Drives me crazy!

Great job on the "things teachers hate" post :).

  14. We cancelled our tv cable so no more Idol. Only the best of the best will we hook up the computer to the tv and watch something....like Modern Family!
    That show rocks!!

Loved Idol in the past but I have no idea what's been going on lately. I was a fan of the original three judges and didn't like it when Kara came on board.
Not a fan of Ellen, so actually I don't miss the show.

Thanks for the follow! Count me in as well!!

  15. I expected so much more ELLEN than what she's bringing to the show.

    What the heck happened?

  16. Love the graph. You should send this too them. They should hire YOU!

  17. Watching Paula's drunken antics every week WAS funny!

  18. I'm very impressed with your graph skills. Although, i do think Ellen has gotten funnier as the show progresses. I think she thought she was supposed to be super serious and now, she realizes by being super serious, she is just drawing more attention to her turkey neck.

    Go Lee!

  19. Great post, having watched a few American Idol episodes, I must say I concur wholeheartedly. Strange, I never thought I'd find graphs funny or amusing, yet your graph dispels this thought :D

  20. I agree that American Idol really blows this season as compared to previous seasons. Not just the lack of talent or the fact that Paula is gone, but because it's getting stale and Simon is just plain boring.

    Great graph...you nailed it Cheeseboy!

  21. Your graph is spot on, my friend!

  22. my mom is addicted to this show, i can't stand it. i'm not even allowed to call her when it's on.

  23. i used to like kara but she QUICKLY got on my nerves. i mean it was like, at first, she was kinda hot and was a nice contrast to paula abdul. but soon she began to look decent but not really hot anymore and watching her talk is irritating.

yes, watching her talk is annoying.

  24. i still miss paula.

  26. Hi Cheeseboy,

Returning the visit to your blog, and for all these reasons I haven't even watched Idol this year. I heart Paula more than anyone, well not quite as much as I heart Simon, and without Paula it's just no good. Kara? She's a boring wannabe copycat gravytrainer on whatever anyone else ahead of her is saying. Ellen? What's she got to do with the music business? Sorry. I'm no longer a fan.

  27. Paula Abdul makes everything better, IMO. She's eminently snarkable!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Kara wins "Most Annoying" from me, hilarious when I thought Paula Abdul had smashed that record and would forever hold the title. I stopped watching when the "Vote for the Worst" group started at it.

  29. ...I soo soo knew that Ellen wasnt the choice for judge..I love Ellen too...but not for this...So you are spot on about all of it...I didnt even watch this year...first time in about 8 years....but I am looking forward to SYTYCD...Do you watch....?its a must...BTW..I love your graph...you did very well...Thank You..!

  30. I used to be a HUGE Idol fan. And I emphasize USED to be. I am dissapointed in this year. Not sure why. Perhaps it is because Paula is gone. *sniff*.

    Love your graph.

BTW, I see you have over 200 followers now. Oh boy...looking forward to that video post!

  31. American Idol-Schmidol. I'm over it. I have the honor of knowing I watched the very first AI with Kelly Clarkson, who I predicted would win, and so from then on I feel like I'm the go to expert for the show. And I say, it's time for it to end. I'm sick of it. :)
P.S. Great blog on the 'Chronicles of a Veteran Kindergarten Teacher' Thankyou for being a teacher!

  32. I've never watched American Idol so... *shuffling of feet* I guess I'mm a little out of the loop on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've never been an American Idol fan. The only time I've ever watched it was during tryouts and getting to see people who really thought they were singers.

But I do think that this is probably the last hoo-rah for it. Without Simon, I think the show will completely stink.

  34. Fine, that is it. I really need a TV. I miss all the good stuff

    ReplyDelete
  35. Stop it, right now, I don't know why, but this has been my favorite season!

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is cool!! Love the graph idea....I bet I can come up with a graph for something....do you mind??
Seriously, you're right on the money with this one!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I totally miss Paula, and as much as I usually like Ellen, she's totally not right for the show!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Worst. Season. Ever.

But I'll probably still watch it next year. I'm a slave to pop culture.

    ReplyDelete
  39. American Idol... just grates on my last nerve. American Idol drives me crazy, and I wish it wouldn't take over the TV world! Same thing goes for Dancing With the Stars!

  40. the orange slice should a lot larger. That's my 2 cents.

  41. I am so over American Idol. I was almost embarrassed for them last night watching the results show.

I am breaking up with them.
